How to earn building websites and apps for businesses in Ghana

Businesses near you need websites and apps. How to start as a builder with Lynk AI: what to offer, how to price it, finding your first clients and handing over well.

The work is all around you

Many small businesses still have no website, or one nobody updates. Their customers search on their phones, ask questions on WhatsApp and pay by Mobile Money. A builder who can give a salon, a pharmacy, a restaurant or a shop a website that works, with bookings or a shop inside it, has plenty of businesses to talk to.

You don't need to write code. With Lynk AI you describe what the business needs and it builds it. Your value is knowing the business, asking the right questions and finishing the job well.

What to offer

Start with three things businesses understand: a website that shows what they do and how to reach them; a website that takes bookings or orders, with payments; and an app that runs the business day to day, with customers, sales, stock, staff and reminders.

Add the domain and hosting, and offer to keep the website up to date each month. Small, regular changes keep a website useful and keep you in touch with the business.

How to price your work

You agree your own price with your client. Price by what the business gets, not by your hours: a simple website, a website with a shop or bookings, and a full app are three different prices. Agree in writing what's included and how many rounds of changes.

Hosting and the domain are separate from your fee: Lynk charges the business for them (see Pricing for today's prices). On top of your fee, Lynk shares a part of what each business you bring spends on Lynk with you for its first 12 months, and a bigger part once you're certified.

Finding your first clients

Start with the businesses you already know: family, friends, the shops you buy from. Show them a ready-made website design for their kind of business on your phone, or build a quick draft in a practice business before you meet. Seeing their own name on a website does most of the selling.

Ask every happy client for one introduction. Once you're certified, businesses looking for a builder on Lynk's Find a builder page see you first.

Hand over well

The business owns its website and app. When you finish, hand it over to the owner, show them how to ask Lynk AI for small changes themselves, and leave your number for the bigger ones. They can bring you back in whenever they need you.

Builders who look after their clients get the next job, and the referral after it.
