2.2 Move a Lynk website onto your server

Before you start: the website is live on its own domain, and your server is Active with Health reporting.

Steps

  1. Open the website in Lynk. On its publishing card, find Move this website to a Lynk Cloud server.
  2. Choose a server, then click Move my website.
  3. Watch the steps: Installing on your server → Switching your domain → Done.
  4. If the domain's DNS is managed outside Lynk, Lynk shows two A records (@ and www) with your server's IP. Change them where the domain is managed.
  5. When it's done, the card says it runs on your own server. The SSL certificate (the padlock) can take up to an hour.

Good to know

  • Publishing changes in Lynk sends them to your server within a minute.
  • Lynk works with what's already there: if nginx or Apache already serves websites on the server, Lynk adds the website to it; if nothing does, Lynk installs one.
  • You can move it back to Lynk hosting from the same card. (Moving back may cost Lynk hosting again, from the wallet; Lynk shows the price first.)
  • Don't change the files Lynk adds for this website on the server: Lynk replaces them on the next publish.
